They don’t even understand

How much they hate themselves.

Take, as an example, the so called “War on Women” that folks on the right keep getting dumped on about. Classic Liberals such as myself would rather a free and open market place for ideas, employment and the like. All we believe needs to happen and what we argue for is removal of race and gender quotas, set-asides and other preferential treatment in the market of life.

And we supposedly hate women because we think this.

The left, on the other hand, when faced with an issue decide that women aren’t good enough and push them aside for a “more preferred” group. And there will be no dissent, or you hate women.

The New Definition of Women Writers

Several weeks ago at a gathering of Washington DC theater critics and artistic directors called “the Summit” a furor was started over the lack of work by women playwrights at major American theaters.  Asked to explain the reason for this well established low representation of plays by women, one artist director explained that there just aren’t enough talented women playwrights in the pipeline, and that it will take at least a decade to fix the problem.

Outrage ensued, and rightfully so.  It was an inane explanation, and one that is insulting to thousands of women playwrights who face real, institutional barriers to having their work produced.

As a result of the kerfuffle several theater artists around the country began compiling lists of accomplished women playwrights.  One blogger ironically called it a binder full of women for theater companies looking for gender diversity.  What has emerged from these efforts is an open source google document called “We Exist” listing over 1,200 playwrights, and its still growing.  But somehow, this list of women playwrights has transformed into a list of “female and/or trans* playwrights.” The asterisk after trans is not a footnote its a…well, I don’t understand exactly what it is, but it has replaced “trans” without an apostrophe as the appropriate nomenclature.  If your following the terms as they go by.

Titling a list about female playwrights “female playwrights” is now no longer good enough. It must also include men who think they are women trapped in men’s bodies, or you are hating on women.

I guess that my list of “Amazing Twats” will now have to include men as well.

So be it.

I’m not surprised. There’s a certain subset of feminists that hate men calling themselves “women”, and they see it as just more of the same male-domination. But there’s also the LGBT(letter salad) friendly bunch who’ll count trans-sexuals as whatever gender the individual claims to be, and they’re the more powerful group as they have the numbers since they’re all inclusive.
As for “we need more women playwrights”, call the Handicapper General! We need more women playwrights, not more good plays that’ll actually get butts in seats.
