Had a conference in The City. Was late so instead of taking the BART train I drove the Excursion; big mistake. The conference hotel wouldn’t take it for valet parking: too big. It wouldn’t fit through the entrance of the parking garages downtown: too tall.

I finally parked at an open-air parking lot near the waterfront and hiked back a half-mile to the conference. $40 for five hours; I’d say inflation’s in there somewhere, wouldn’t you?
Anyway, on the hike back I remembered how cool walking among the downtown canyons can be.

Don’t worry about him, he’s been hitting all the big blogs. Gotta watch the BART protest schedule and try to avoid that crowd – and hit Tadich’s when your in the canyon… But some parts of the City just smell like pee everywhere.
You could always come back to Reno and play in the Truckee Canyon. *snicker*
Where are all the people of SF? Man the streets look pretty much deserted.
I had a similiar event a couple of months ago. I had just purchased my Tundra and had to head to downtown Chicago to the office (which I rarely do). So, I took my truck and not the train. I pull into the parking garage and the overhead clearance sign says I have two inches to spare. All is well right?
Well on the last ramp to get OUT of the garage they have a sign indicating the clearance is 4 inches lower than the entrance signs. M(*&^%@#$$%^ F*(&^&^%r. Fortunately this appears to be a frequent issue and the security guy ran traffic interference as we took the truck out the inbound section of the garage. Surface parking appears to be the name of the game from now on. Either that or the train.
DirtCrashr, yeah, I walked past Tadich a couple times that day. Didn’t have time to go in either one. Sucked.
Sennin, I’d much prefer that, believe me.
Glenn, I’m not a fan of crowds, so I tend to take off down side streets and alleys. You can always find something interesting that way, too.
