Perry-Rubio 2012

This is the ticket idea that freaked out a Kos diarist way back in April. And despite Rubio’s statement that he would not be a VP candidate in 2012, I don’t believe him. The matchup would just be too unstoppable.

Not a big RON PAULLLLL!eleven! kind of guy but it is telling that the guy finishes 2nd in Iowa and he isn’t even listed but Santorum (who I didn’t even know was running) and Huntsman are both listed from April.

Sounds good, but… I think Florida is trending fairly red already. Governor Cristy on the other hand, would flip NJ’s 15 electoral votes, guarantee PA’s 21, and force Obama to spend time and money on NY.

  3. DirtCrashr says:

I could vote for that. Romney is a non-starter for me and Paul just doesn’t have any realpolitik tools in his foreign policy.

Bram, while I agree it’s about the election right now, you don’t run someone just because he can be the monkey wrench in the other guy’s gearbox. Even if you succeed, there’s the not-inconsequential matter of governing.

I don’t trust Christie. He’s soft on the 2A, hasn’t made a dent in one of the worst civil rights violating state’s canopy of Constitution-ignoring laws, and doesn’t even have a plan to cut them back.

He’s a one-trick pony. He charged in, slayed the union dragon (well, the public employee unions, anyway – NJ is still a Union-shop state), balanced the budget (like he was sworn to), and has been gloating and eating cheeseburgers ever since.

Perry, with his instant and large lead over RINO Romney, is the obvious candidate. For vice-prexy, I could go with Rubio, or Bachmann, or Palin, or Cain. Any solid conservative will do, remembering that they are one heartbeat away from running the place.

I’m not a big Christie defender, but he doesn’t have a majority in the state legislature necessary to even start to fix Jersey gun laws. He is taking on our budget problems with the Veto. Unfortunately, he can’t veto a law already in place, and he can’t force the legislature to do anything except pass a budget.
