What the government giveth

The government can take away.

Death Panels? Not so much.

More like “Disability Panels”.

Millions of patients face losing NHS care as bosses prepare to axe treatments to make £20billion of savings by 2014, a top doctor has warned.

Among procedures being targeted by health trusts are hernias, joint replacements, ear and nose procedures, varicose veins and cataract surgery.

Dr Mark Porter, chairman of the British Medical Association’s consultants committee, warned NHS bosses wanted ‘wholesale reductions in budgets’.

He said primary care trusts – which commission care – are already compiling lists of ‘low value’ operations that would no longer be provided.

These include hip replacements for obese patients and some operations for hernias and gallstones. Procedures for varicose veins, ear and nose problems including grommets in children are also not funded in some areas.

Dr Porter said it was wrong to impose blanket bans on such procedures when some patients might benefit.

“Looks like you’ve got a bad hip there, Mr. Smith. Too bad you’re a tubby fucker. Nurse, please help Mr. Smith down the hall so that he can pick out a nice wheelchair.”

They do it because they care. Though, not about you.

And now you know why they do not want to legalize pot or any of the other drugs that are currently outlawed. We have a meth epidemic in Iowa because of this and the stuff they are using is very toxic just to have a little more energy and work a little harder.

When drugs are outlawed only outlaws will have drugs.

    Kinda catchy.

As to disability, just about any adult-onset disease can be cast as receiving one’s just desserts for errors committed in one’s life. Diabetes? Eating too much, same with heart or artery disease. Lung cancer? shouldn’t have been that smoker, or perhaps you shouldn’t have driven the old clunker of a car.
Generally fat? you should have exercised more, fat ass. Colds? Flu? Wash your hands, you filthy hick. Colon Cancer? You shouldn’t have eaten so much fatty foods, and eaten more fiber. Prostate Cancer? That’s what you get for being a male chauvinist pig, whatever that is.
Of course some diseases are exempt, say, breast cancer in women or AIDS, which are inexplicable hardships afflicting the good.
And you thought the era of blaming sick people for their diseases went out with the Victorians!
