Attention

Washington State Concealed Pistol License holders:

The law of Supply and Demand is playing games with your CPL.

If you have renewed your CPL within the last six months, it may do you well to call your issuing constabulary and check the status of your License.

As I posted a while back, I was recently renewed. I have my newest CPL sitting in my wallet in front of me. It says that it expires in 2014.

However, if I was to have it run by a LEO say, at a traffic stop, it shows as “Delinquent”.

With the increased demand for CPL’s, the state is not keeping up with updates to the system. I’ve heard updates are running 90 days late. Another source says 120 days late.

Check your “official” status (especially if you are going out of state) and don’t get snippy if the LEO asks silly questions.

Any suggestions for how to check the status? Renewed mine before the election of President Hope-Changey, so I’m good, but others might benefit from the advice. Do we contact the approving authority, or the State?

Either or will do, but probably the best way is to call your issuing agency’s non-emergency line, let them know you’ve heard about the system updating delays and that you are calling to ask about your CPL in said system.

    Guess I’d better call SnoHoCo’s Sheriff’s office… sigh.
