Now, just keep repeating that word while you read this AP article about the latest report out of the U.N. Development Program and the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey. Trust me, it will keep you from having smoke pour out your ears.
The United States leads the world in economic loss from deaths caused by armed crime, according to a global survey released Friday.
The U.S. registered an estimated loss of up to $45.1 billion in terms of economic productivity because of violent crimes, said the report by the U.N. Development Program and the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey.
And if I didn’t know that the UNDP and the Small Arms Surveyors were anti-civil rights, I’d think this was an anti-criminal story.
But I do know that they are bigoted organizations, and I know that it is yet another America bashing study and report that can be handed off to the Brady Bunch and the VPC and added to their list of talking points.
At least 490,000 people are killed in armed crimes each year worldwide, placing a huge economic cost and social burden on nations, the report said.
The report did not give a country-by-country breakdown of the numbers of people killed in armed crimes.
But the report said that Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica and South Africa are among the countries with the highest numbers of recorded violent crimes in the world.
More people are killed worldwide in violent crimes every year than in wars, it said, asserting that the phenomenon of armed killings and its economic impact on nations is largely underreported.
In the 90 countries surveyed, the economic cost from people killed by arms each year is estimated to total between $95 billion and $163 billion, according to the report.
“These estimates are based on calculations of the ‘lost product’ that is represented by premature deaths from armed violence,” said Achim Wennmann of the Small Arms Survey.
“These people — had they lived — would have contributed as any other individual as productive members of society. Their deaths represent a loss that can be quantified,” he told The Associated Press.
So basically, while the US isn’t near the top of the violent crimes list, because we are individually so prosperous, we get stuffed to the top of this particular list.
I think I’ll do a study of who spreads the most bullshit. I’ll factor in only anti-civil rights reports that focus on firearms, and only organizations that have budgets in the billions and work out of Geneva. Anyone wanna guess who will be at the top of the list?

Complete bull shit–Most killings in the US are gang bangers or other thugs killing each other. South America is much the same. In Texas death by the gun is happening to thugs by armed citizens frequently. Most of these deaths are a good thing!!
Whenever you hear an argument couched in economic terms (as in, “why can’t they act in their best economic self-interest?”), you can bet it’s a socialist argument being put forth.
Since people are incapable of acting in their own self-interest, government must do it for them.
