They’re not on the other side

They are actually fighting with the enemy

From Powerline Blog

Earlier today, Congressman Eric Cantor wrote the following letter to Pelosi:

Dear Madam Speaker:Fifteen kidnapped British marines and sailors recently became the latest victims of a systematic Iranian campaign of terror and international defiance. The illegal seizure of the British forces is a signal that Iran views us as powerless to prevent it from realizing its aggressive ambitions.

For the sake of our standing in the world, our allies and most importantly the 15 British personnel and their families, I urge you to bring H. Res. 267 to the floor today before we adjourn. The resolution calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the British marines and sailors. It would also call on the U.N. Security Council to not only condemn the seizure, but to explore harsher sanctions to counter the growing Iranian threat.

In case HR-267 is news to you, let me just fill you in:

Pelosi refused to let it come to the floor for a vote.

I have been listening to Air America all week and heard nearly every single host sayat least one of the following phrases (I’m paraphrasing here) : “The British must have been in Iranian waters, otherwise why would the Iranians do this?” and “If they weren’t in Iranian waters, how come they haven’t released the GPS location numbers of the the Brit’s boat?” and “The Iranians were provoked by Bush’s war in Iraq! If these soldiers are tortured and/or murdered, it’s Bush’s fault!” and “Hopefully, the Iranians will use these soldiers to get the Brits out of Iraq altogether and permenantly!”

Those are just a few of the bits of bile coming out of the mouths of the radio representatives of the “Progressive left”.

is there anything they won’t do to undermine this country?

Didn’t think so.

I know it’s off topic, but I was hoping you could do me a favor. A property owner in the town where I live was arrested for…well, defending his property.

I’ve got a post up at WWJWD, and I’m hoping to make as much noise in the blog world as I can about this.

When this first happened we were discussing it at work. My statement was to the effect that “if I had been the captain of the Brit ship, the Iranians would have been on the bottom, career be damned”. It didn’t seem to be popular with my workmates, who kept mumbling about “rules of engagement” and such. One of them said it was probably a good thing I wasn’t the captain, with that attitude. But at least they would have all come home that night!
