A New View on Life

So my 17in CRT monitor has been acting a bit funny lately, getting darker and then lighter and then darker again. It was enough to give a guy a headache.

So yesterday, as the wife was looking through the ads in the Sunday paper for some items she’s needing, I would snatch up the ones she’d gone through and read through the dead tree media at the prices of replacement monitors.

While I’m sure they’re out there, no one was advertising a 19in CRT monitor and I’ve never been happy with my 17 incher once they gave me a 20in model at work. But I did find a replacement.

This one right here

Although, I must smirk as I admit that I didn’t pay nearly that price (try less than a third of it). Because I was up all night and able to get to the store in time, I snatched up one of three monitors they had in stock at that price. I would have gotten he widescreen version, but I’m still not quite sold on that.

And to think, we all used to be able to do just fine with a 14in green-screen.

Green?! Grreeeeeen?!!!! The international ORANGE monitors with the clearly observable individual dots comprising the letters, of which only a handful would fit on each line, are the true test of monitor ancient-ness. I woulda given my family’s eye teeth to have a GREEN monitor, back in the day…..

It’s like that Python skit, where one after another the participants recount the poverty of their upbringing….

“You lived in a box! I’da killed to have had a box!”
